Citizenship and Flight Date - Worst-Case Scenario!!!

My Wife is currently PR and in Canada, waiting for her Citizenship to be completed
She already passed her Online Test and several categories have already been completed

She wants to purchase a flight to her home country as early as possible (cheapest price)
This means she needs to provide her current non-Canadian Passport info

If her Citizenship is completed before her flight - She needs to get a new Canadian Passport
What do we do with the Passport info provided in her Plane Ticket?

Just thinking of the worst-case scenario - if all the timing becomes tight
What happens if Her Citizenship, and flight date all come at the same time!?

Adding passport information while booking flight is optional, its not mandatory.

First, after "several categories completed", a decision has to be made, and that may take some time (but hopefully not much). Second, after a decision has been made, there has to be an Oath ceremony, and that too may take some time (but, again, hopefully not much). Third, after that an application has to be made for a Canadian passport, and current processing times for normal applications appears to be 5 to 8 weeks. Conclusion: she is still some way off from having a Canadian passport. So, I would not worry too much about "Citizenship, and flight date all come at the same time".

As to information on plane ticket, etc., airlines look at that information simply to determine whether or not a person has a right of entry to the place they are travelling to. Thus, if she is travelling out of Canada, then a Canadian passport is completely irrelevant for the outbound journey. However, if she acquires Canadian citizenship before leaving, she will be required to re-enter Canada on a Canadian passport. If she does not have one when she leaves, then she will have to apply for one at a Canadian consulate or embassy. That will take some time.

If she must travel after she receives invitation to Oath, then you can always ask for the date to be moved. That might save you a lot of headaches.

she is planning sometime next year - March
hopefully either she gets her Citizenship/Passport early enough
or Citizenship is not finalized until after she gets back - finger crossed
