We have 2 documents which we have no idea how to certify!

a) degree from Armenian university
b) Armenian passport
*note: we live in Greece so they are foreign for them here and they will not just do it like they do with Greek once (even if they are in English)

now.. there are a couple of solutions

a) lawyer
b) Armenian embassy in Greece

nice. BUT: the lawyer can only write the "I certify..." text in Greek and the Armenian embassy in Armenian!

What should we do? Will these certified documents be accepted by the VO even if the certifying text "I certify that ..." is not in English.French? or it HAS TO BE in one of those languages?

PS: the actual text (passport and degree) IS indeed in English. The only problem is the certifying text.

thank you!

Hi,

All over the world and all embassies are authenticating the documents in the international language "ENGLISH" check with your embassy sure they will have in English. It is important that any documents sent to CIC or VO should be in any one of the official language English / French.
Hope its helps,

As stated in the opening post I CAN certify the document but the certifying text "I certify that etc etc" cannot be in English! They said they can only do it in Armenian!

hmisabpk is correct. I don't know your embasy in Athens use English or Armenian/Greek. Attestation of any document by the applicant's embassy is accepted by CIC. The consular officer will certify and sign with date and a seal of the embassy/consulate. The applicant don't have to write or type any words on the document. Some consulates use rubber stamps made for the certification words.

thank you for the help!

but I didn't understand fully! do you mean that if i send to the VO a certified copy (of passport and degree) in ENGLISH but with the certifying text "I certify that this copy is etc etc" in another language (Armenian). It will be ok?

:D No, then you need to translate that Armenian text too. I wanted to say that any notations should be either in English or in French language which you opted for application.

that is too bad then :( the armenian embassy will only certify by writing in their language. so i will either have to take this text (not even sure it is possible) for translation or pay 30 euros (43 CAD) to Canadian embassy to certify them... :(

Hi Vangelis, I have another suggestion. Suppose you got it done at your embassy/consulate and they wrote the text in Armenian, I think ( only guessing!!) if you go to the Canadian Embassy at Athens or consulate in other area (I don't know), perhaps they may certify below the text and seal of Armenian embassy. Try if possible.

Why not look for any multi-language translator firm in Athens?

I got it. Then I suggest Canadian Embassy. in fact I was searching for Translation firms in Athens which you don't need.
For certifying or notarizing, you better choose Canadian Embassy than others because lawyer will certify in Greek or embassy will do it in Armenian!!

yes, that is unfortunately right! it seems that the expenses for the Canadian dream are adding up day by day :)

Tell me something though,

Let's suppose that i take it to the Armenian Embassy and they certify it (in Armenian lanuguage - not the actual document, but the authentication text). And let's suppose that I take that to a translator and he translates ONLY the authentication text (from Armenian to English). Will this be acceptable by the VO?

I think so. The VO want to make sure what is written in other language. That is it!!. That is a good option.
