Dear members,

It will be highly appreciated if you can share your opinion about counting of the CAP.
Either the count raises with every application CIO recieved occupation wise or it add up after they issue PER/NER.
Whether CIO update this information immidiately on website or update lately.
:o

Seniors kindly speak up.

It will help us all to understand CIO mehanism.

On June 24, 2011, CIC announced further revisions to the June 26, Instructions. As of July 1, 2011, FSW applicants who do not have an offer of employment in Canada will now be limited to a total cap of 10,000 a year and a sub-cap of 500 per year for each of 29 listed NOC codes.

For calculating the CAP the applications are considered in the order that they are received. In addition, for the unique purpose of calculating the caps, the first year began on June 26, 2010, and ended on June 30, 2011. Subsequent years are to be calculated from July 1 to June 30, unless otherwise modified in a future Ministerial Instruction.

Nobody knows for sure. They say it is counted in the order its received.

section 5.2 Ministerial Instruction effective June 26, 2010

" In calculating the caps, the CIO will consider applications in the order of the date they are
received. Applications received on the same date will be considered for processing having regard
to routine office procedures"

Because they have a mail backlog.

Because they have a mail backlog.

Then CIO should update cap counting as of day they are processing whether its backlog.
For example, if CIO processing today(18 dec) the 15 september or before applications the they should announce cap counting i.e 452 applications as of 15 september instead as of 18Dec2011.

e re
This makes sense atleast applicants who filed after september would have realised that noc will be caped soon and reduce the mail back log by not filing the applications!
