I am a Canadian, and I am sponsoring my wife. I already sent CIC the result of the ultra sound of my wife's pregnancy, so they asked me to send them some additional documents. According to the 2009 CIC regulation, if the child was born outside Canada, and one of the child's parents is Canadian, then the child should be granted citizenship. So they asked me to send them a copy of my child's birth certificate in English, and 3 passport photos. And they also include category 1 and 2 if my child is eligible for citizenship or not. In my case, I am sure that my child should be eligible, then I have to follow Appendix A for instruction. Then I have a few questions:
Does my wife have to do the application for Appendix A all over again? or she just has to do the additional application for my child only? like number 6 ( use of a Representative IMM 5476), 12 ( Proof of Medical Examination), 13. Photos ( 5 recent photos - follow the instruction in appendix B for specifications ), and Do I have to pay the application fee for my child?
Thanks for answering
Below is the message that came from CIC, I've been calling them to find out the answers, but the line is always busy
---------------------------------------------------------------
Please provide the following information within sixty (60) days of the birth of your child so that we can
continue processing your application:
Copy of the child’s birth certificate (listing names of parents), accompanied by a certified
translation if the birth certificate is not in either English or French;
Three (3) original, passport-size photographs of the child (taken within the last 3 months).
If the child is born outside of Canada, procedures must be followed before the child will be able to travel
to Canada.
The applicable procedures depend on whether:
1. The child is eligible for a Canadian citizenship (see Appendix A for instructions on how to apply
for proof of Canadian citizenship and a Canadian passport)
2. The child is not eligible for Canadian citizenship (see Appendix B for instructions on how to add
the child to the sponsorship and application for permanent residence)
