That makes me feel that the Tokyo office might have simply forgotten to ask for RPRF payment. As many people advised here, she paid the RPRF and submitted the receipt along with other documents. She now just wonders if a passport request without RPRF request means visa stamping or not?
Hmmm, hard to affirm anything about her case... but why would they ask for the passport if not for stamping the visa, right? I guess she just has to wait and be positive.

Hi Shakira
Just one more question: when they asked you for your passports, did they ever say for what purpose they need it like for visa stamping or so? Or they just said you need to submit your passport along with the Mexican police certificate to continue processing your application?

Thank you

Hi wpc71,

There was nothing on the letter indicating the purpose, just a list of documents needed, like this:

- Updated Police Certificate for: Mexico
- Right of Permanent Residence Fee (Please refer to www.cic.gc.ca for payment details)
- Original Passport valid for more than 6 months

The medical instructions were not mentioned on the letter, they were just by themselves: 3 pages stapled, plus one form called Appendix A (I think it was "A"... unfortunately I didn't photocopy it before submitting to the clinic).

How's your friend's doing? Just waiting like me?

Hi Shakira
Thank you for your prompt reply. My friend also did her medicals and paid the RPRF and submitted passports along with other docs and is waiting like you. The differences between your letter and hers are:
1. She was not asked to pay RPRF.
2. Her medical instructions missed some items such as DMP list!
3. She was asked for updated proof of funds and a birth certificate.

She received the letter on Jan 7th some time before you. So I guess the Tokyo office is updating procedures based on questions applicants ask them! I think this friend of mine is one of the first few cases in process at this office.

Dear wpc71 and Shakira,

actually, even on my medical request the DMP list is missing but I checked it on cic website. I will have my medical exam tomorrow at the Tokyo Clinic. Hope everything goes well.

After that the result will be sent to Manila. My question is how long would it take from Manila to Tokyo visa office to get the result? I wonder if they do electronic file transfer.

In your case Shakira, did you check your ECas? Any update?
Let's hope we get our visas soon. I am not sure in my case though when they will request for RPRF and PPR.

Best Wishes,

Hi Okshan
What is your Ecas status now? Did it finally change from Received by Visa Office to In Process?

As for the time you asked, based on PMM's comment on my earlier post, it takes around a month for the visa office to get medical results from the Regional Medical Center. And it is an electronic data transfer in the form of a code into their system.

Best of luck with the medical examination.

Hi Okshan,

I just checked my Ecas and is still IN PROCESS, with the detail as follows:

We started processing your application on November 10, 2005.
We transferred your application to the Tokyo office on December 12, 2008. The Tokyo office may contact you.

So... nothing new as of yet.

Good luck with your medicals!

Hi wpc71, thanks for sharing this useful info!

By the way, this is just for everybody's reference... I asked a few questions to the doctor at the Tokyo Clinic and he told me that:
- The results are usually ready within one day, given that no health issues are found.
- If any abnormalities are found, they'll call the applicant first (they'll never send "bad" results to CIC), explain the content and try to arrange a second examination when necessary
- If everything is good, they'll send the results asap to Manila, normally the following day (if results are ready on Friday, it'll be the next business day)
- The sending method is either EMS (Japan Post) or FedEx, both very reliable.

Dear all
I applied as a Self-employed in Sept 2004 / and now I received this message from Canadian Embassy in Manila that says
Please be informed that your medical instructions will be sent to you within this week.I am wonder is it normal that they sent medical instructions before interview or is that means they accept my application without interview?
Could somebody tell me what’s going on?

Hi Zhian,

Unfortunately I don't have answers to your questions. I've read that in general applicants are called for the interview first and then get the medical instructions.

I hope you can get things sorted out soon.

Best wishes!

Hi CocoaTea,

I didn't get any other request after submitting the 4 items; they just sent me the passport back with the visa stamp.

Hope you too get your PR soon!

Kind regards!

So meaning you never got such forms like updated information chart? This is that form that requires such details like your height, your passport details, your eye color etc. I read some threads where the authors said they were asked to fill the updated information chart at the time of receiving Passport request (PPR). Did you receive such a request after sending your passport or at the time of sending your passport? Thanks.

Oh, those forms... like the IMM0008, 5406, Schedule 1 & 3 ?

Those were requested to me right after I got the file transferred from Manila to Tokyo. It was early November 2009, if I remember correctly. So, I got that request some months before the medical instructions and PPR.

Hope it's clear... ;)

I guess I have one more question..In your timeline it shows you sent your Passport on the 25th Jan 2010. That means it has taken like 2 months to get your visa..That's after sending your pp? right?
