Hi Members,

Just check CIC website, they are having a strike.
Anyone has any idea whether it will affect PR card renewal cases?
I submitted 3 weeks ago and my old card is going to expired in Oct. 2013.
I am not working outside of Canada.
What if the strike delays the process causing me not getting the new card before Oct...?

They only give this... Posted processing times for both temporary and permanent resident visa applications do not take into account work stoppages.

You don't need to have a current PR card if you don't intend to leave Canada or apply for government services.
It's perfectly legal to be inside the country with an expired card.
So, in reality, a delay will cause you few, if any, problems.

Ah, that changes everything. Yes, a PRTD is the way to go. However, if there is any chance that you will not meet the residency obligations, you should be taking steps now to sort that out.
In the last 1825 days, how many have you spent either in Canada or in some other way qualifying for days to be counted as contributing to the RO?

Hey guys,

Just wanted to give my feedback for the strike. So i applied for my BOWP on May 28th 2013 and i got a reply today saying that it has been approved on June 30th 2013. So i dont know if the strike is actually affecting the processing times but all i can say is just dont let your hopes down.

Hope this helps.
