CIC Strike, I don't think Canadian government has any feelings for families

They should just jack up the price for family sponsorship, I think probably the fees will go up for sure and I don't mind even paying the fees 2 times or even 3 times but please end this strike. We need our families.
Agreed. I'd certainly pay more for better service or an update once in a while.

Does anyone know if visa officers have been ordered to put their efforts into "urgent" processing of student visas over family sponsorships, due to the strike?

As customers, why aren't we being given any answers? All we have to work with is the insincere apology for delays on the cic website and what we read in the newspaper. I went right up to the window at the visa processing centre in my current city and asked a few simple questions, nothing too specific. I was given no explanations or answers, whatsoever. Silly to have ever thought "public service" meant service for the public (such as Canadians applying for sponsorship), not just well-heeled foreign students and visitors from foreign countries! As a Canadian, I am embarrassed that would be taxpaying citizens are being treated this way. What a great first impression of the country!

My biggest mistake was applying outland PR for my wife. I would have been better off doing it the underhanded way by getting her a visitor visa and applying inland. At least it would assure that we could be together for as long as this process takes.

I don't think so, I quickly went through the intl students thread, and they too seemed frustrated bcs their study permits weren't back yet and it was passed processing times. However I believe their online applications are being handled by canada according to poster on the thread (idk if this was the case even before the strike or not).
Bottom line if they don't sort this out, its going to have a big impact on our economy, not only do intl students bring tuition money and living expenses a lot of them work part time as well. At least if they don't care about the family class, I hope they care about the intl students and they'll comply with the requests from the union.
