I'm unsure what to do. The MP just confirmed that my visa for permanent residence was sent out on January 16 and it was sent to our old address... Our old neighbors said the new neighbors aren't very nice and we're worried they may have thrown it out... What can i do in this case? I only need those documents to land. Should we phone the police to do a mail investigation? We already know CIC doesn't send out documents until they receive the others back. Is there anything we can do to get the papers to the correct address? We updated our address about 3-4 months ago on e-cas and sent our new address with my passport..we're unsure why they sent it to our old address but they did.

We've also contacted the people that live at our old address and they claim they have not recieved anything... We're not sure if they're telling the truth or lying though..

Perhaps you can phone the CIC call centre? BTW, to play safe, why don't you contact Canada Post for the mail forwarding service before/after your move?

Doubt it. CIC call center in Los Angeles, CA doesn't accept calls regarding immigration. nor do they respond to emails...

Not the VO, the call centre. Did you call the call centre?

Is that for LA? I called the Ottawa Call center, they said I have to contact LA... which I did send an email off, but it seems they take about 2 months to get back to you if at all.

This is for the entire process. LA gets back to you within a month usually. For me it was a week because I used the form, not the e-mail.

I called that same number, they didn't really say much else other than to contact LA. Which form did you use?

So I found out a work permit was sent to an old address. I got in contact with the people, and they have done return to sender for the document.

I'm assuming the guys who issue the work permit will have it now.

Does anyone know how I can get them my new address?

Did they have to sign for it? Surely they wouldn't. Perhaps go to the courier or Canada Post with identification and see if it got sent back.

1. Documents (work permit etc) are sent out regular mail, they don't have to be signed for. It will be returned to Immigration eventually.
