Hello everyone!

Just wanted to ask an urgent question... This is what my online services says about my application for PR atm
Permanent Residence
We received your application for permanent residence on June 4, 2015.
We sent you correspondence on August 10, 2015. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.

I have still not received the correspondence from CIC... Does it usually take this long? I live in Canada B.C. Vancouver. I called CIC on monday and they told me it can take up to 4 weeks... And it has been 4 weeks what should I do at this point? I asked the gentleman on the phone if they could just let me know what the letter is and they told me they could not. I also checked all my emails frequently and still no luck... I'm going crazy!! Where is my letter :( if someone could let me know what to do at this point I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!
The email getting moved to the SPAM box and auto-deleted happened to us. In the end, we found out only when we ordered GCMS notes. The VO actually asked for updated information, so we did not respond in the 30 days period, and I freaked out. Luckily things got back on track.

It doesn't hurt to order GCMS notes regularly just in case things slipped through the cracks.

Let this be a lession to everyone who puts an email address on their application: Add the domain "cic.gc.ca" to your safe-senders list!

I have the same thing on the Sponsor side. Sent correspondence on Aug. 5th. I still haven't received anything. I sent a case specific enquiry on the 12th. I called on the 15th. They said they would send a note to the case worker to resend. Still nothing.

If you have had this happen, how long did it take to get your correspondence? Did you get any answers?

Thank you, I'm beginning to fret.

Hi All,

I sent my husband's spousal sponsorship application and it was delivered on 29 august 2016. I did not receive any email with case number yet. I am a Canadian citizen living outside Canada with my husband in United Arab emirates. when will i receive a reply from them?

Also somehow my notice of assessment shows marital status as "single" though it was "married" last year. I got confused and tried to change it but it showed that i can amend it only one time in 1 year. would it be a problem in my eligibility as a sponsor?

otherwise i am working full time from last 1 year and we have a biological child together

1. i would recommend checking the thread specific to august outland applicants. this will give you a good idea as to how long it is currently taking CIC to send an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR) and sponsor approval (SA). my guess is there will be a bit more time before you hear anything. if you are outside the current processing time for sponsor approval, then you can call cic to inquire about your file. they won't be able to help you until you outside the normal processing time.

2. no, it shouldn't matter.

Right now, it's taking right around 21 days to get the AOR 1 email for August applicants. SA about a week or two later.

also remember there were 2 holidays where cic was closed between then and now: civic holiday and labour day, so that will add to the wait time a bit...

So sorry to hear that. I am not in the same situation but I did read a blog online. A Canadian sponsor was unable to receive emails from CIC and got into same trouble as you have unfortunately. Hope its helpful.

I have found myself in a ditch bcz of some other issue and posted my problem in "August 2016 outland application thread". I am copy pasting here so u don't feel alone in this immigration frustration :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ I have no clue what to do now :'( Here is what I posted there....

"Hi guys, Plz help as I am in a huge mess Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

I am a Canadian citizen and living in UAE with my husband (Pakistani National and he works in UAE on work permit) and we have a daughter together who is 1 year old now. We married in Feb, 2014 and I was a permanent resident at that time. the wedding was planned in second week of February and I went to Pakistan to get married. However, luckily or unluckily I received a letter from Immigration and I was called to take the citizenship oath. We didn't cancel the wedding and we decided to do the Nikkah by proxy where my brother signed the nikkah Nama. I had left for 2 weeks to Canada and got my Canadian passport and documents and returned to Pakistan after 2 weeks. I had my rukhsati done in 3rd week of Feb, 2014. We lived together and started our married life.

I was finally able to complete the application for my husband's sponsorship and I sent it to Mississauga and they received it on 29th August, 2016. Afterwards I found this forum and started reading etc for support. I was nervous so I started checking CIC website for eligibility criteria etc and came across a question in Help centre that I never saw before. Its the following:

"Does CIC recognize marriages conducted by proxy, telephone, internet and fax?

No. As of June 10, 2015, CIC no longer recognizes marriages conducted abroad by proxy, telephone, fax, Internet or other similar forms of marriage where one or both parties are not physically present at the ceremony.
Applications received before June 10, 2015 are not subject to the new regulations.
An exception has been made for members of the Canadian Armed Forces who are unable to be physically present at their marriage ceremony due to travel restrictions related to their service. This applies to cases where the marriage took place outside of Canada and was registered in a foreign country where marriage by proxy is legal."

My heart has dropped. I got married in Pakistan and according to Pakistani laws, my marriage is recognized and absolutely legal and we now have a daughter together. I am freaking out. Will my application be denied?Huh?? Plz comment if somebody has any knowledge about it."

Hi everyone!!!

Here's my case:

I received an envelop under my spouse's name ( Singapore Office, my spouse's country is Vietnam) containing all the photos, boarding passes and other miscellaneous items WITHOUT any letter from them inquiring any updates from my spouse ( an update of either: Police Clearance/Schedule 1/Household Registry/IOM physical exam). I did try ECAS and found the same message about the correspondence. My theory is that 30% chance that she would be interviewed and 70% chance that she would be granted PR (since my child has already obtained his citizenship and Canadian passport)...
However, I still went to "Case Specific Enquiry" website to let them know what happened. It's been 7 business days....haven't heard from them yet...crossing my fingers....

What I am trying to point out is that The Singapore Visa Office does some weird procedure sometimes....no consistency at all.
which month applicants you are??

Hi,
Couldn't you just go to a city hall somewhere, talk to the officiant, and try to work out a deal where they give you a solmnization of marriage, you take a few photos and file that along with pics from your wedding, and an explanation? Then they couldn't refuse it.

The only issue might be with time. But if you ask the officiant, they may be able to help out here too.

Just a thought...

Yes, your app will be refused. Proxy marriage is not recognized by IRCC.

It is possible that you may be able to save the app by having a marriage done that is legally recognized by IRCC and sending in the marriage certificate.

You can ask your MP to inquire with IRCC about re-opening the app if you never received the correspondence. I suggest you order GCMS notes to find out what was sent and when.
