Hi All,

Just received a letter today from the CIC stating that my application to sponsor parents was sent to Pakistan. However, my parents are in India and I triple checked all addresses on all forms. I'm obviously extremely disappointed and plan to call the CIC ASAP. I'm thinking this will cause delays and appealing to anyone with any advice in dealing with this situation.

Thanks.

Yes this happened to Thundersoul from the February thread.......you need to get on it asap....email pakistan VO right away and get someone on the phone to CIC....also TS posted a thread so long through some of the older ones about the letter he emailed....it was set right fairly fast....

Thanks for the reply.

Progress thus far...

DAY 1.

Repeatedly called CIC beginning exactly at 8 am. Didn't get through to an agent.

1) Sent email to questions @ cic explaining the problem. I guess this is the email applicable to my situation. I got it from this page english/information/offices/help.asp
What is the Ottawa email Thundersoul was referring to? Is it the one on the very bottom of this page english/information/offices/canada/ottawa.asp ?

2) Sent case specific inquiry to Islamabad, Pakistan via dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=islamabad

3) Sent fax to CPC-M. The only fax number I found is the one listed under Courier address on this page: english/information/offices/canada/mississauga.asp

4) Finally got through to a CIC agent around 10:50 AM.
I was told that that the error may be on the letter itself and the application may not have actually been sent to Islamabad. That the intent may be to send to Islamabad and he logged a note on my file not to do that. I asked for an email or letter to confirm the corrective action. He said that he could not do that. I have to just wait for 3 weeks and call back and that it could even take up to 3 months if they are too busy. Once the situation is rectified, I would receive a letter to confirm the file was sent to the correct VISA office.

Am I missing anything? Do I just wait now?

TS was approved through Ottawa....his file was one of the one's sent there I believe.....if your letter was from Mississauga you deal with them....today is Tuesday...I would contact CIC on Friday again and give the VO's till Monday to reply and if nothing email again. Honestly you will get a different agent on Friday and they may be more helpful....you certainly should not have to wait three weeks......for a mistake they have made.

I received a question via private message regarding this so I'm posting my reply here in case others are interested.

This ended up taking A LOT longer to correct than it should have.

On Aug 31, 2012 we received a letter from CIC stating the application was forwarded to New Dehli (10 days after our attempts to have the situation corrected via call centre, fax and email)

HOWEVER, on Dec 31 2012, the sponsored family received a letter from the Pakistan VO requesting further information.

On Jan 15, 2013 we met with our local MP's office who contacted a special MPs line.

In April 2013, the fie was finally transferred to New Dehli.

On June 3, 2013, we received a letter from New Dehli requesting further information, medicals and passports.

Moral of the story: If this happens to you talk to your MP immediately! You may not have any luck fighting this on your own. When we received a letter from CIC stating the application was forwarded to New Dehli we thought everything was taken care of. But nothing actually happened until 8 months later!
