In the citizenship application Section 8(D). There is a Request for Authorization where CIC can collect history information from CBSA.

It also states:

Please do not contact the CBSA to request your history entries.

As we can use ATIP to access information for our personal records, does someone knows the reason that why CIC does not want us to contact CBSA for the history entries?

You can get your CBSA if you want to.

But the reason why CIC says you don't have to dates to the RQ flood that started May 2011. The CIC required applicants to get their own CBSA report and these many thousands of freaked out RQ applicants flooded CBSA with requests. The processing of the CBSA reports slowed to a crawl.

If you look at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=827&t=5 they say that you can also say No to this question in which case they may ask you to send for the records yourself. However, in the instruction guide at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0002ETOC.asp they tell you that you will be asked for other evidence and that you shouldn't contact CBSA. I can only guess that they don't want people to rely on the CBSA records for their travel history. The CBSA records could be missing some exits or entries.

However, I do not see how they can forbid you from asking for info about yourself under the privacy act. It is your right.

I thought that , In case, If I contact CBSA and if CIC comes to know that I have contact CBSA to get the records, they might delay my application or something. ;D

I got my CBSA records as I travel often (over 30 times in last 4 years) and I wanted to be 100% sure of my travels.

I used it to check my records before I submitted my application.

I also brought it with me to the interview, as well as the I94 printout for US travels.

The interviewer was pleased that I had my CBSA report and that I matched everything 100%.

My application was processed in 7 months.

I am glad to know that....
Did you order CBSA records before submitting the application?

Also, did you have some wrong exits on i94?

Yes, I ordered CBSA records before submitting application. It took about a month. I used it to help me compile a correct residence calculator. I actually noticed that on some stamps I lost a day because I arrived shortly after midnight - e.g. 12:05AM... but the stamp showed the previous day. I submitted it with the application and kept a copy for myself to take to the interview too.

My I94 report was correct. But if you have discrepancies I'm sure you can obtain other supporting docs to help you explain if you were in Canada or not, such as bank statements, tickets, itinraries, hotel bills, etc. I submitted additional docs for the application, but none of the additional documents was asked in the interview. The only documents that the interviewer looked at and took in the interview was the I94 and the CBSA report. I believe this saved a lot of hassle and time.

Thank you. I have seen people in the forum discussing that their entries to USA were correct however, some of the exits were not correct. Did same happened with you?

CBSA report only shows entries in Canada, not exits.

You need stamps to show exits, or the I94 report.

Is there a way I can see sample CBSA report over the internet or you can post by blacking out/hiding your personal details? I just want to see how the report looks like.
