CIC quotes processing times for online TRV applications, does it include mailing the passport and getting it back,
or is it just the time for getting a passport request?
I could not find this information on the CIC website.
Right now the processing times for inland TRV application from within canada is 26 days. I know that CIC is now reporting calendar days and not working days as processing times, but I wonder if it is the time till the passport request comes or does it include you mailing the passport and getting it back from Ottawa?
thank you in advance for sharing the information.

My impression is that the processing time posted by CIC does NOT include the passport return time. I remember reading somewhere in their website (could be the faq section) that the processing time refers to the average time from the day a complete application is received to the day a decision is made. When CIC sends out the passport request, they clearly say that "a decision has been made", which means this marks the end of the processing time.

My personal experience: online application submitted on June 28, passport request received on July 23. So that's 26 days which matches the processing time currently posted. But mailing the passport to Ottawa and getting it back took an extra 7 days.

Thank you! did you use the expresspost? I was advised I could use an overnight courrier servive (fedex) for example, then it might be faster, though I doubt it.
thanks again for sharing your timeline.

Yes, I used the Xpresspost. You can send them your passport by any courier you want, but I suggest you provide an Xpresspost return envelop because they only send mails out through Canada post service. Without return envelop, or if you provide return envelop of other couriers, they will just send your passport by regular mail.
