Hello Everyone,
My brother got his PNP nomination (OINP) in November 9th,2016. He applied for a work permit extension as his work permit was expiring on Dec 31st, 2016, with the OINP nomination + a letter of explanation. He sent out his paper application(cannot apply using EE, specified by the PNP certificate) to Nova Scotia on December 18th, 2016. He is yet to receive his AOR, which is understandable because it takes atleast 3 months(Feb/March, 2017).
However, his work permit application was just rejected, citing

You have failed to meet the eligibility requirements for a bridging open Work Permit because you have not submitted proof that you have sent an application for Permanent Residence as a Principal applicant.
Should he reapply with the Canada post receipt that he indeed sent out his application for Processing, and is still awaiting AOR. He just got a job 2 months ago is really depressed by the whole situation as now he has to stop working. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

hey experts, is it advisable to send upfront RCMP police clearance with the application to cic ?
Does that fasten the process a little bit ?

won't make it faster. but if they need it and it might take 3 months to get it. then you might be delayed

Hi Everybody,

I would like to share my flag poling experience yesterday Jan 11, 2017. We arrive at around 10:30 and finished approximately half an hour (it would be faster if we are not walking or we know which door to enter). At the US border, no one stopped us and we went directly inside (had trouble looking for the door) and immediately went in line. After few minutes we were called and asked what is our purpose. We said flagpoling. The officer took our passport and no other questions asked after that. After few minutes, he gave us the refusal paper (the term refusal may sound harsh but I have B1/B2 visa, and this is actually the procedure with the reason "flagpole"). He instructed us to go back to the Canada border and no one accompany us to the Canada border. We walked again and looked for the lane or the door for pedestrian. At the counter (Canada border), She asked for the purpose and took our passport. Few questions asked like "Did someone give you a gift while you were in the US?", "Did you buy something from the thrift store?", "Did you bring any agricultural products, fruits, vegetable, poultry, meat etc?" and others. It took less than 2 minutes. Then we went inside for the landing. The officer asked for our CoPR and passport. She asked some few questions, like "Have you ever been convicted to any crime inside or outside Canada?", "How much money do you have in your account?" Etc...

I know that we should bring valid Work Permit, visa, ID's, Passport and CoPR. Guess what, What they actually needed from us are Passports and CoPRs. They did not asked for my work permit, any other ID's, they did not even open my bag (which I know they have scanners so they know that what inside are just papers). I would also like to remind you that every person had different experience at the border. Some were asked for work permit, bank details, residential addresses, blah blah. But our experience was quick, less complicated and no drama. :) Good luck for those who are waiting. I know the long wait is killing you but it is worth the wait. God bless us!

is processing PR after sinp dependent on your country? Additionally, does it make a difference if you submitted your application while you are in Canada, during a visit?

Inland application processed inland (CIO-Sydney and CPC-Ottawa) most of the time

Outland: you send the application to CIO-Sydney, then they dispatch it to the nearest visa office of your country, or it could be transfer to less busy consulate until its send back for visa stamping

process time depends on country. Inland Canada is 16 months now

you are, as long as you have a valid address in Canada. Then when you have to leave, you have to notify IRCC and most likely they will transfer your file to the appropriate visa offer

I sent my paper application to CIC in November 2016. I got a email from them yesterday which I guess is the AOR. So it took 2 months and 4 days to get the acknowledgement. You will need the Application number and the UCI to link your application online. I was able to link mine after getting the information from CIC. I hope this helps

Wow that was quick, can you please tell me if you applied paper-based?
And do you know when you were charged $550 from your bank account?

I was charged on Jan 15 and still have not heard from CIC. Visa expiring in March, getting really worried lol....

Hello,

For your card to have been charged, your application is fine. You will get the AOR next month. Relax

Yes my application was paper based.
I paid with a credit card online and was charged immediately before posting my application to Nova Scotia. I printed out the payment receipt and included it in the application package.
