Cic Ottowa timeline for email reply

Hi guys just wanted to ask how long does it take for Ottowa to reply to an email request for application status information is the same amount of time that sydney take 30 days ??

I sent CIC Sydney an email wanting to know the status of my application on Nov. 5/2014 and got a response from them on March 10/2015. I had to wait for 4 months to get a response even though I had forgotten I sent an email to them.

Do u know if our files are finalized in Sydney or Ottawa?.cause acc to my gcms notes my file is in Sydney since a year :'(

Last time I called CIC I was told my file is still in Sydney and Ottawa. From what I was made to understand, Sydney does all security and background checks and tranfers files to Ottawa to make the final decision as well as PPR. That does not mean Ottawa cannot do all the background and security checks too, just that Sydney office was set up for that purpose.
