+1 for Iambule. He posted this in another thread. I am not sure if this has been posted previously but... since it is good news, why not share?

seriously though... this along with mccallum's June 9th discussion on how family reunification is now his main priority has lifted my spirits quite a bit.

It is really reassuring to see that the number of new PR this year under family class will be quadrupled. Thanks for sharing, I think Iambule deserves +1 one more time ;D ;D

Thanks!

Wow!!! So VERY excited! Our outland PR app was received in Mississauga on Monday, May 30th. I hope that it qualifies as being "in the system" for the June 13th cutoff for quicker processing. I wonder what that means regarding the current posted average Ukraine processing time of 10 months. Would 5 - 6 months be a reasonable guess? Less time, perhaps (if, of course, our app is in order)?

Not quadrupled. Maybe you misread... it increased by 14,000, not from 14,000. So from 48,000 to 62,000.

I don't think anyone can answer that. The notice is very vague, not enough numbers to really determine the effects. I find it hard to understand what they're saying in regard to applications before vs. after the "cutoff", or even whether there really is a cutoff...

If you have not yet submitted an application to sponsor your spouse or partner but plan to do so, the application will not be dealt with as part of our backlog reduction efforts, but it will be processed as quickly as possible.

IRCC's work to reduce the backlog will eventually benefit all spousal applicants—whether they are already in the backlog or submitting a new application—by bringing down wait times for all.

This may just be awkwardly worded, or it could be deliberately misleading.

In the first sentence, what does "as quickly as possible" mean? If it's true that the new system is faster, doesn't that imply anything "not dealt with" as part of the new system will not be as fast? If it will all be faster, then what does "not dealt with" mean? Maybe they just mean fresh applications aren't considered part of the backlog? But by the time they reach them, they will be...

In the second sentence, they say "all" will experience lower wait times "eventually". If you have just applied, then time spent before this "eventual" benefit will be part of your wait time. Maybe they mean the actual hours spent on an application will be less, not including time spent in the backlog. If they actually meant the overall wait time will be lower, there would be no reason to say "eventually".

Some points I take from this:
- They have started this new process.
- It applies to the backlog of applications.

This good news for those what have been waiting!!! I don’t want to parse and read into their statement too much.

But the proof will be in the pudding. Will we see results?

From what I understand, this only applies to:

Family sponsorship - Outland or Spouse sponsorship IF done inland.

In my case I am sponsoring my wife outland so I don't expect any changes.

I received AOR 2 from Mexican Visa Office on April 24, and I hope for my wife to be in Canada this year.

Thanks !

outland is outland, regardless of whether the file's being processed in ottawa or overseas. there's no such thing as "outland sponsorship being done inland"; these are two completely separate processing streams. this update does apply to you and you should expect to see changes.

"The backlog reduction applies to applications received through the family class (overseas processing) as well as the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class (in-Canada processing)."

red is outland ("family class" included spouses outside canada), while blue is inland.

I think HabfaninBC meant the same thing: "Family sponsorship - Outland or Spouse sponsorship IF done inland." But he thought "family sponsorship" did not include spouses.
