Question of behalf of a friend.

CIC medicals in Brisbane are horribly expensive:

Canadian visa medical assessment (excluding chest x-ray and pathology)
$304.70

Canadian visa medical assessment including chest X-ray (excluding pathology)
$437.80

Canadian visa medical assessment including chest X-ray and standard pathology
$547.80

Canadian visa medical assessment including standard pathology (excluding chest x-ray)
$414.70

Anywhere else she could do the x-ray/pathology to save a bit of money?

The fact of life is this:

Salaries/wages in Australia are much higher so the cost of some things will be higher as well.

e.g.'s

Minimum wage down under is more than $16/hr
Big Mac is more than $5
Cup of Coffee in a major city is more than $5

So of course medicals will be higher than in Canada .................. its not the same country as Canada

BTW, the equivalent to property taxes for a $1m house is only $2500 at worst!!!!

I can't help with your question, but can your friend please share her experience after completing medical? I may need to do mine in Brisbane as well...

Australia isn't Canada? Thanks!

She's from Queensland, so she's quite familiar with the cost of living in Australia. It was pretty normal for me to call a few different physicians in Calgary to get the most reasonable price. I don't think it's strange that she would look to save money where she can as well.
