i have received my AOR though.

Hi ocanada,
We applied in sept 2005. We did our medicals in April this year. I had a call back which was submitted the beginning of June and since then heard nothing.

In reply to your queries Ocanada & Sofia I can only assume that you want to know my line of work etc.
Ok here goes.
I am a trained mechanical draftsman and i am qualified to Higher National Diploma level in Computer Aided Draughting and Design.(if you dont live in Scotland that means i am 1 grade down from having a degree). I have been working in the mechanical engineering sector since i left school. Starting as an apprentice mechanical fitter, then spent some time as a first line mechanical manager, before i took up a position as a designer and draughtsman.

aallan, vertainly u have a very good chance as your job is in the listed occupation, so am sure you could as well have looked for jobs and applied via a work permit also.
but as u said, u are about to reach the end of your application.

We only applied Nov '07 through CIC London so have quite a way to go.
A quick question. Have you any idea what is the demand is for mechanical/electrical draftsmen in BC? I believe the demand in Calgary is huge. Where are you thinking of settling?

Hi Manib,
we are extremely flexible about the province we settle in. i love the toronto area whereas my Wife is a big Calgary fan.
I have browsed a few job sites and i get regular emails fom Monster jobs and there seems to be quite a demand for draftsman. I havent gone into them in great depth yet, while not superstitious, i dont want to get my hopes up too high until the passport request letter comes through the door. Hopefully that day is not too far away.
