As it says right under it, 'includes assessment of sponsor'. So yes from the day they receive it.
I have been completing 17 months since I submit application. But it took 3 months to transfer my file to Visa office for processing. Now my question is, should I count months from that day I submitted file to Mississauga for assessment of sponsor? or from the day when they transfer my file to VO?

Ok, see 17 months is just the average time it takes to complete 80% of applications across all VO's so will likely not mean anything to most applicants. Go look at your VO thread on this forum to get a better idea and don't worry about the 17 months number. Unless it has been 17 months since you applied and you might be able to ring up and get some answers, thats all its good for.

Hi Bublo,

Your last message was sent in February. What is the latest news on your application? Did you receive an update?

No but I contacted my area MP and he got reply from ADVO that I have to wait till June as processing time is 17 months.
I am still confused about processing time. Should I count months from the date I submitted Application or that date when its transferred to ADVO.
In total I have completed 18 months but no updates.

Count from when you submitted applications. As the time has the SA times calculated in.

Yes I know as on CIC website it shows total time period is 17 months including SA time but my MP didn't explain me when I asked about my app. time which is already over now.

Hi Bublo,

As even Jacalinkup is suggesting, yes, the 17 months are counted from the day your application has been received at the VO, wherever that is. Not the day you send it, but the day it is received because it takes few days for the VO to receive the documents if you are sending it to them by courier.

So, from the time your documents have been received, whether it was in Ottawa or AD, your time to start counting down the months had started. Another note is that at the time you applied, it was not 17 months to process from AD. I believe it was 13 months. If the new timeline has been introduced, from 2016, that will only be for those who submit applications from 2016 onwards.

You are well overdue for a reply. So now is the time you have to get in touch with them. Call them up and ask what is holding up your file, if there is anything further that they require. It clearly says on CIC website that if you have not received a reply by the end of your due date, you are supposed to follow up with them. So please do this as quickly as possible.

Hi Bublo,

Please please please tell me you have some news. Did you contact CIC?

I am trying to understand your situation. Correct me if I am wrong, but you are in Canada and your Husband is the applicant and he lives in UAE. Is that correct?

Hi, Yes I am in Canada and I sponsored my hubby who lives in saudi Arabia. According to my area MP I have to wait till June but I will wait till couple more weeks if in case they will be sending PPR otherwise I will contact CIC for status of his application. For now why I am not sending any enquiry because I am afraid if I bother CIC again and again? :( that might be a critical situation for us.

Hi Bublo,

Your case somehow tells me that there is a hold up somewhere. Your husbands medical expired in May 2015 and CIC has not informed you about redoing the medicals, when I believe that they usually advise to do so when it is near expiry or expired. Were all the documents sent properly according to the requirement when you applied? Was there anything lacking? How much has your husband traveled int he last ten years? Do you suppose the Background Check is the reason it is taking so long?

To all experienced candidates out there, can you please shed some light for Bublo? What advice can be offered to her as she has been a long waiting applicant and isn't able to receive a proper picture of what's happening with her husbands application. Would really appreciate some input.
