CIC isn't actually doing the makeover.... I'm pretty sure that work would be contracted out. Having said that... It seems like our application fees and hard earned tax money is going to "great" use...

When the majority of you get here and look at how much the government takes from you you'll understand.

I say take that money being used to change the website to hire more employees..... As that would support Canada's family reunification policies.... as I'm positive that changing the look of an already functional website does not!

The Conservatives are systematically removing government service positions in every area. This will mean longer waiting times for everything and fewer resources to access.
 
But government has actually implemented mandate to decrease processing times.....thus all the delays in the earlier part of the year....which was do to re-structure.

After the re-structure the internal processing is supposing to be streamlined, benefiting everyone. Just sad to say that your app was submitted during the re-structure... hence your long wait. The rest "should" be quicker as government is now stage 2 of the plan to decrease waiting times across the board.

Figures they made it even MORE complicated than before to now get your application status.

I work for the government and I can tell you that restructure means less staff doing more work. More middle management doing nothing.
The only way to streamline applications is to require less supporting documents to verify. This could potentially allow less desirable people into the country so I doubt they will do that.
Stage 2 applications are done through the embassies abroad which the government is looking to reduce staffing levels further in order to save money. Fewer staff means longer wait times.
 
I don't know about you but I'm just glad I don't have to deal with the strange, awkward family in the upper left watching every move I make, mocking me almost with their forced smiles and strange poses indicating they didn't even know who was besides them.

Every time I had to visit the old website, all I could focus on was that 'family'.

"Hey. Guess what. We're citizens. You're so jealous, aren't you? Good luck, immigrant."

Even the child was in on it. I just couldn't stand it.

Seriously???.... I guess clicking the 4 extra steps takes way too much physical strength on some people... geez.
 
It would be preferable to make the information itself less convoluted and difficult to understand. Pretty is nice and all, but I would prefer that they address the content.
