CIC Fee payment via demand draft

Hi all,

I would request you to kindly guide me as how shall i pay the application for permanent resident fees as in India a draft is valid only for 3 months ( as per the guidelines of RBI) and cic states that the draft should have alteast 5 months validity.....

please help me out with the problem /...... as to what shall be done by me ...I dont have a credit card...

Pay through Credit cars or request your bank to get it done for 06 months.
Otherwise request any one from UAE / Singapore to get one for you

We are in same situation.We got DD from HDFC,and there is no validity date mentioned on that draft.Also as per bank,if there is no validity date it is valid for all time.

Please suggest what to do in this case. Also heard the ICICI Bank issues DD valid for 6 months.

What step you took in your case?Waiting for response.

hi nishi,

i will be getting a draft from united bank of india ..... i had a word with the BM of international banking branch and he said that the draft is valid for 3 months in india and if it is out of shore of india the rules and regulation of that country comes into picture ....

plz do share a response what u r going ahead with..

Even I got the similar response from manager handling Forex for HDFC bank.
That in India it is valid for 3 months for outside India 6 months.

But I am not getting if I should believe him, because he mentioned "I think...".

Moreover, no valid upto date mentioned on the DD.

i dont have any other option but to trust him so i would go ahead with the draft from ubi...... moreover if rbi has guidelines it would be same for both psu as well as for pvt. sector banks, i mean similar for both ubi and hdfc.

lets see whats in store .... did u search google and find out the rbi guidelines for the draft validity ???? if yes plz do share the link with me also as i would like to go through it ......

Do you have any "Valid upto" date mentioned on the draft?

In my case, there is no such date, that further adds to the confusion/uncertainty.

thanks a lot for your post and it has really helped me a lot....

i was on the verge of getting the draft from UBI but after going through your response i contacted thomas cook and they satisfied me by saying draft is valid for 6 months ....

+1 from my side for yr valuable response which will not only help me but many others like me..
