My mom is a christian and Dad is a hindu, so I was named a hindu name.
I follow christianity and regularly go to church and got married in church to a christian girl.
But never officially converted to christian.
In my marriage certificate my name is mentioned as hindu name @ christian name.

Christian name is only mentioned in marriage certificate and I have never used it anywhere else.
None of my IDs and legal documents does have this name.
Even in my wife's passport only my hindu name is mentioned.

Should I say I used alias name/ nickname...
I have got work permit and dependent visa for my wife without mentioning it.
Should I submit any additional document for express entry?
Is it even possible to change the name in indian marriage certificate?

Experts, please advise as I am currently living in canada and hoping to get ITA soon with 458 points ::)

Not an expert but the name on your IDs and supporting documents should match or an explanation letter needs to be attached as in why not?

All my documents has hindu name.
Only concern is marriage certificate has this additional i.e., " @ ChristianName" after my hindu name.

Express entry preparation is one hell of a time in my lifetime...
Hope I will make these as happy memories once I get everything done ;D

You can attach an Affidavit explaining the discrepancy in the name on the marriage certificate

Should the affidavit taken from India or can we do it in Canada?
I'm asking coz the marriage certificate is provided by Govt. of India.

Thanks sammy1976...

In this case, should I mention that I have used Nickname/Alias name.
I have never done that while applying for my work permit and wife's dependent visa.
Will that make inconsistency that I am declaring this info now and not before during my communication with CIC?

No need to worry about just attach notarized Self declaration that is sufficient and not make any inconsistency yes you need to mention alias name and you can attach LOE same as you wrote in this forum. I have same situation with my wife's name I m telling you from my personal experience.

That's great news!!!
Really appreciate your help on this, just one final question.

1. What should be the reason in the "self declaration"? Any suggestions.
a. Notorization in canada is acceptable? (Coz I said one question ;))

Also, don't forget to include the Notary stamp of "Valid for Outside India".

Ask the notary, he should know about it.

If you r in Canada u need to notorized in Canada cause it is self declaration, find one and same name sample declaration online. It is acceptable in Canada I gave for my wife from Canada I went to a law firm he made one for my wife took my wife signature on it and notorized and charge me $50. make sure you bring your passport marriage certificate and legal status document with you if you r in Canada. I recommend you bring all related documents with you and even you can gave clarification in it as well then you needn't to provide extra LOE and keep this safe with you for your future references.

Hi,
I have a christian marriage certificate issued by the church priest in India in which the my spelling is wrong. Here I have two questions.
1. Do I have to apply for Government marriage certificate or the Christian marriage certificate is enough for my Canada Visa
2. Can I show an affidavit for name change in case of the spelling mistake.
