Choice of immigration routes - Spouse sponsorship, skilled worker or express entry?

Hi There

I hope this is the right place to post this. I am at the very beginning of deciding to emigrate to Canada from the UK (I am a British citizen) and it seems that I may have a choice of different immigration routes I could go down. Could someone from this excellent community of experts maybe give me some pointers as to which would be most preferable?

My situation: I am about to be married to a Canadian citizen (my fiance has dual nationality, Canadian / British, we live in the UK). I am a professional engineer, I have a doctorate in materials engineering and I currently work in R&D for an electronics company. I have 4 years' professional experience after my studies and qualify for professional registration as chartered engineer in the UK. I would like to work in a similar field in Canada.

I think I would be eligible for; Spouse sponsorship (either outland or inland.. which to choose??), or skilled worker, or possibly express entry routes? (It is possible I have misunderstood this). Which would be the quickest and easiest process to follow? And crucially, which route would allow me to begin working in Canada the soonest after arrival?? This is key since I will likely be the main wage-earner while my wife carries out her plan to do a PhD in Canada. We do still have some time on our hands before the move (at least 12 - 18 months but possibly longer).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Time isn't an issue, as you don't plan to move for awhile. Whether you do sponsorship or EE, you can time it to be done when you are ready to move to Canada so that you arrive as a PR. Sponsorship is cheaper, as no language test and no education assessment. You also aren't competing for an ITA.

If you go for sponsorship, about a year before you plan to move, you can start the outland process. You can continue to live in the UK during the process. Your wife would have to submit proof of intent to return to Canada.
