Hi all,

So, I've pretty much finished everything, but now I've come to the China Region Guide and the Document Checklist. There are a few things I am not sure about. Background of my case: sponsoring my Chinese wife (we have a 4 month old baby who is Canadian). I was born and raised in Canada. I have never had problems with immigration or anything else that would be a potential problem. So, here are my questions in regards to the China Region Guide - Document Checklist:

1. Number 11 - Non-Accompanying Family Members Declaration - does my wife have to get a notarized statutory declaration for her mom, dad, and sister? Does her mom, dad, and sister need to do the medical and police checks?

2. Number 16 - Address in Chinese - what does it mean by 'address labels'? Actual sticky type labels or just copy the address in Chinese 8 times?

3. Supplement to Schedule 1 - Background / Declaration - what do we need to do with this form? Who needs to fill it out? Is this applicable for our case?

4. IMM5604 - Do we need to fill this form? We only have one child and he is Canadian. We have both never been married before and we both do not have other children. Skip it?

Any form that does not apply to us, do we still include it and write 'Not Applicable', or is it okay not to include it?

This is taking WAY longer than I originally anticipated. I guess the reason for this is that I don't want to make some stupid mistake which will cause a long delay or even refusal.

Thanks for any and all help with answering the above 4 questions!

Cheers,
FS

Non-accompanying family members means only the spouse/partner and children. So other relatives (such as parents and sisters) do not need a notarized declaration, and do not need medical or police checks.
There is an "Additional Family Info" form, and on that form they do want details of the applicant's parents, children and siblings. But no medical or police check.
2. Number 16 - Address in Chinese - what does it mean by 'address labels'? Actual sticky type labels or just copy the address in Chinese 8 times?
I think they want actual address labels. Because of the difficulty in reading and writing Chinese characters, I suppose they want any slip-ups to be blamable on the applicant, not the embassy.
3. Supplement to Schedule 1 - Background / Declaration - what do we need to do with this form? Who needs to fill it out? Is this applicable for our case?
Your wife fills it out.
4. IMM5604 - Do we need to fill this form? We only have one child and he is Canadian. We have both never been married before and we both do not have other children. Skip it?
Skip it. You and your wife are the parents of the only child in the case, so their is no other parent involved.

You can not include it and just write 'Not Applicable' on the checklist. You could include them with "Not Applicable" written on them as well if you're worried.

Thanks, CW.

So for number 11, my wife and son need to get a notarized statutory declaration? I have no idea what this is or where I can get it done?

Address labels as in the address in Chinese character typed on a piece of paper, or labels as in the sticky variety?

I am planning to send the application via courier. Will the courier deliver to a PO Box? I figure sending via courier is the best way to ensure it gets there okay. If sending via courier is no good, what are the other choices??

There are two addresses to which you can send it to, one for courier and one for Canada Post.

In the guide it only gives the PO Box. Where can I find the other address so I can send my application via courier?

Thanks

No, from time to time the visa office might send some request to the applicant and if your postal address is in English, it might not be deliverable especially in rural China, so that is why you have this instruction to write the address in Chinese characters.

If you can read chinese, follow this link to find notary offices across China:

I don't think PO box accepts courier.

According to the CIC website below, there is a courier address for CPC Mississauga:

No, your wife and son do not need to get a notarized statutory declaration. They are coming with you to Canada. The notarized statutory declaration in question 11 is for someone who is leaving their spouse and/or children behind. It does not apply to your case.

They definitely want the address in Chinese characters. I think they would prefer the sticky labels, since I believe they will be using them to address letters sent to you in China, so ones they just have to peel off a sheet and attach would be easier for them than ones just typed on a piece of paper.

Thanks, CW.

Right, I think I finally have a handle on all the application forms that are required for our specific case.

Now it is time to organize all supporting documentation. I have hundreds of e-mails to print and organize. We plan to have the applications sent by the end of March, so I'm going to be very busy over the next few weeks!!! It's a lot of fun, though, so I don't mind doing it.

Thanks!
