Hi Owais,

Are you going to appeal in Canadian court while being in Pakistan? If you actually pursued this, how did you do it? What were the results?

I am on temp work permit application and currently my younger son has had some further medical. We have submitted Child specialist's opinion and waiting to hear back at the moment. I believe the Dr's assessment would probably state ADHD, though we are not actually sure at all. We have been reading about Autism and ADHD both. So i am trying to understand any further options.
I appealed through a Canadian lawyer Tim, result will come in January 2014

Hi every one. Thought of checking if you had any update in your scenario? How did the appeal go?

On my side, it has been a mix of results, some doc wrote possible ADHD, another mentioned possible PDD (which has some features common with mild autism, but does not qualify enough of them to be classified as autism. We submitted doctor's report to CIC and after a while visas were approved Alhamdulillah.

Meanwhile my son is undergoing speech therapy and he is doing pretty good. I hope it turns out a minor deficiency and recovers with this. Probably this would be brought up again when / if we apply for PR as we are currently on work permit.

Hi worrie-ds,

Thanks for the wishes. I am not quite sure what a fairness letter is like. So i would tell you my details and time frame. Generally, in case of a work permit application, an approval or passport request is supposed to come through with in 15 days to a month after initial medicals. In the initial medical, they noticed my son wasn't talking so they reported it. But i thought that was all clear. In our case, the medicals are done locally but the CIC's medical officer's get reports in a neighboring country and then forward their assessments to CIC. So there was no feedback from CIC at first and then i got a letter via normal post from the medical officer in the neighboring country (which was CIC's medical assessment supervisor). The letter said i have to get my son evaluated from a child specialist / psychologist and the local Medical center will have the details so i should book appointment with them.

So i did so and on the day of appointment where i took my son along, i discovered that they do not have local specialists to evaluate. So they gave me a sealed letter - addressed to one of the best hospitals in the country and advise contacting a child specialist / psychologist there.

Luckily my kids were born at the same hospital so they had their entire medical file. It took me 2-3 visits to a specialist there, who verbally told me that he suspect ADHD, but not confirmed. Still in his assessment it was not a significant burden on health care system in Canada.

However, i didn't get to see his official feedback, which was handed over to me with hospital's seal and it included a form that he filled which was part of the first letter i received from the local Canadian medical health care office. I submitted that feedback to the medical practitioner and it was added to my file. My original medicals were done around Sept 20th and i finally received visa approval around Nov. 26th. It had taken me 2 weeks to get feedback from that specialist in local hospital. But i believe it was around 20 days after my final submission that we received visas.

No - it won't. His chances will be the same as a child from any other country.

Hi seniors
I received PER on 5th mar'15 and awaiting MR. I request if anyone of you can share ur update on how u succeeded in getting PR. I too am in a same boat like some of you. My 7year old daughter has speech delay and mild ADHD and undergoing therapy and not able to adjust to normal school in India.

Will it make sense if I share her medical reports with CIC empanelled doctor prior to receiving MR so that all the requisite tests can be carried out upfront.

Thanks in advance for ur suggestions

Hi marv23. I am in a similar situation as my 4 years son has a mild autism. We just had our medicals in London and the doctor also noticed the autism and said she will mention it to Canadian Immigration as it's her duty to inform them.

Please can you let me know if you get the visa in the end ? Also did CIC ask you to provide anything further for your child ?

cheers,
linkers
