Children are Canadians

Hi,
My father-in-law had applied for Canadian Immigration as an entrepreneur many years back and subsequently my wife was a Permanent Resident, and delivered both our children in Canada (ages 4 and 2 years). My father-in-laws citizenship has been denied and I fear my wife will also have to surrender her PR card.
I would like to know if there are any grounds on which we (me and my wife) can apply for immigration considering both are children are Canadians.

Thanks
Ali

Ali,

Having Canadian citizen children does not allow you to apply for PR.

However once one of those children reaches the age of 19, they will be able to sponsor you for PR. In order to sponsor you, they will have to meet low income cut off (i.e. make sufficient income to sponsor you) and will have to live in Canada while the application is being processed. Also, keep in mind that it currently takes approximately 5 years for a parent sponsorship application to be processed.

Hope this helps.

What's your status, Ali? That isn't clear from your post. Are you a PR or citizen?
