We are not discussing what they are! Either way the child will be a Canadian citizen. It is to prove the citizenship and acquiring the documents to prove the same. OP asked if he/she will require a Citizenship certificate for the unborn child or not. And yes, because the child will acquire citizenship through the overseas Canadian parent and not de facto of being born in Canada. I’m not saying you’re wrong lol. It’s just the process to prove citizenship and arranging travel documents will be different. And future implications to pass on the citizenship to the next generation (if applicable). Just giving the OP all available info!
Technically no. Citizen at birth not by birth. It’s actually Citizenship by descent. There are differences and paperwork is different too.
My responses to you were about the above post where you said the child wouldn't be a citizen by birth, which was incorrect. That's all.

The process to apply for a passport is the same. They just submit the Certificate of Citizenship instead of a Canadian birth certificate.
