I just arrived in Canada last week. I have been living in the gulf region for the past 15 years. Can I apply for child tax benefiit once I arrive ? also I need to fill the status of canada form , I need to declare my income from 2015, 2014, is this net income or total income,because if its total income , its prety high , but my expenses were high as well , because cost of living was high abroad , will that impact my chance of receiving tax benefit for the kids...

Currenty I dont have a job ,both my kids are below 3 years old , is it true ,the website is showing a monthly payment of 1000 cad per month , in British columbia?

I suggest you contact CRA. Regardless, you cannot deduct your cost of living expenses.

If you had a pretty high 2015 income (and you must include your spouse's income if she worked as well), you will not get even close to $1000/month.

That is V j/J not fair , my income was 100,000 , my rent and school costs and utilities come to 63,000 each year , it would be unjust to put an income of 100k on the form . In Canada , net income is after taxes , but for me , my tax is the high rent and school costs .

What would happen if I put the amount of of 37k each year , which is fair in my sense , because when I spoke to them on the phone , they said to put the net income number.

That is not your net income. You would be committing fraud and it would be very easy for CRA to find out.

I would look for a good tax office, and discuss your tax situation! Depending on your situation some of your costs may play a role.

Everybody has to pay for their living & taxes, I don't see what's unfair. High income usually mean higher taxes - that's how it is.

Fraud shouldn't be something to even think about. Declaring 37,000 instead of 100,000 ... I am speechless. Just wow.

What exactly is not fair? Do you expect the Canadian government to give you more money because the cost of living in your previous place of residence was high? Does that sound reasonable and fair to you?

For a Canadian family with income of $100,000 here would roughly have:

Annual gross income = $100,000
Income taxes =- $30,000
Bills/payments =- $30,000 [mortgage, utilities, car payment, insurances, mobile/internet bills]
Food =- $6,000
Misc =- $6,000 [vacation, entertainment, other consumption]

At the end, one may have $28,000 remaining (your term 'net income'). To be honest, it's lot less than that. Your $37,000 now sounds lot better, doesn't it? If we start thinking of paying tax after all expenditure, we would fall in the low income category where one won't have to pay income taxes at all. Hence, Canada has income tax cut right from the source (Gross income - Income tax = Net income).

If your previous country didn't have income tax cut, then unfortunately, your Gross Income = Net Income.
