Does anyone know if we are allowed to apply for child care subsidy while sponsoring? If yes, does a canadian citizen who worked abroad for the last few years has a right to it? I couldnt find any info on their website. Tia
if you meant universal child care etc from CRA, you can apply after you/your child land in Canada.
My case
- After I landed in Canada and called CRA.
They asked only mother's previous years income tax including international income ( you should talk to them for more info)
then fill the form and send it off.
It took me for 6 month til my daughter received her child care money.
They back paid from the date we landed in Canada, though.
My wife is receiving child care subsidy, provincial child care support payments, and provincial judicial aide, and we were approved for sponsorship without any problems.
In the CIC call centre the rep told me as long as it isn't welfare. I have been approved for sponsorship a second time. After the first one I received a child care subsidy for my daughter and it was okay.
