I landed in Canada in November 2019 as a permanent resident along with my wife and child with same status.
For the Child Care Benefit to receive, you need show income for the 2019, 2018 and 2017. I did not earn any income in Canada in 2019, however I earned income in the US for all these years. I am yet to receive 2019 W2 so I haven't filed the US returns yet. And hence I haven't filed my Canadian returns.
Is it recommended that I should first file US tax returns and then Canada tax return and then apply for Child Care benefit ? Is there anything else I can do to get started to receive any sort of benefit such as GST/HST?
