Hey,
I'm looking for some urgent advice as to how to enter canada with my son who was born in the UK and is a British citizen. I am a Canadian citizen.
Can I just travel over with my son as a visitor and then apply for his canadian citizenship? Or do I need to get some kind of landing document?

My son didn't need to get any kind of landing document. I'm US citizen and my son was born in the US. My husband is Canadian. My son and I entered Canada as visitors. My son had US passport. We crossed the border by land without my husband. Border patrol asked me consent letter. I didn't have one and they didn't like it. But they let us enter.

As Eyre said you can travel into Canada on his British passport. The application process for citizenship is on CIC website and is very straightforward, when we applied the told us it would be 12-15 months but we got it back in 3.

My daughter was born in Texas. I applied for her Citizenship card before we came back to Canada. At the time, I think it was $100.

Ok thank you. I was just checking that I didn't need any kind of visa/landing document for my son. I will be applying for his citizenship as soon as we move back to canada.
3mths! That's pretty quick.

Yes. I think 3-4 months is the typical length of time. I applied for my kids citizenship certificates, 2 years apart, both times took 4 months to complete.

I think the max period is usually reserved for those who are already Canadian and have passports, etc. Ie Canadian born. I applied for my Canadian citizenship certificate even though I didn't need one. It took me the full 12 months to get it.

They also tell us its take 12 to 18 months time but we received it in just 4 months on this july...and received his canadian passport in just one month...we applied both things in india...
