Hi:
I am a canadian citizen father living in canada. have applied to sponsor my outland wife in Jan2022.
wife is due in jul 2022.
Its likely the child will be born outside canada.

So my questions are:
1. Will the child be a canadian citizen on birth. (I think he will be)
2. How long for child's canadian passport.
3. Do we add the child to my wife's PR application.
4. I believe proof of citizenship takes 15 months, so do we get an indian passport for him, and indian citizenship, and den add in PR application.

Please advise........really frustrated at these long processing times.

1. Assuming the father obtained citizenship through being born in Canada or naturalization (rather than descent), then yes.
2. You should apply for a temporary passport which doesn't require proof of citizenship. I think those can be obtained pretty quickly.
3. Not as a dependent. The child is already a citizen and doesn't need to be sponsored.
4. No. Get the temporary Canadian passport. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-passports/travel-documents-non-canadians/temporary-passport.html

Note: I think they will require proof that the application for certificate of citizenship has been filed - i.e. apply for the citizenship proof for child at same time as applying for temporary passport (with copy of complete application).
