Was the cheque made out in Canadian Dollars. If not, then that could be the problem.

i am applying from Delhi India. I was asked to send the documents straight to Nova Scotia.
is there a way to contact CIC and get more explanation on my case, so that i can think about re-applying or waiting for some time if i dont match the requirements.
Please let me know if there is some way to get more details.

what document did you send to NS.

Refund Amount in $ is1100 ?

Ammount written on their web $550??

hi hoshang,
i thing there may be a problem with the draft, whether it is not in Canadian dollars or the banks is not located in Canada or the amount is not as required (if u have children or so). Have u checked all of these. But it is strange as they always sent an explanations letter.

Hi,
you guys are right, i applied for myself and my wife thats why $1100.
We sent the fee in canadian dollars only and yes the application reached Nova scotia office on 21st may. The cheque that i received is dated on 21st July.
I think if our fee wasnt correct then they would have returned the draft as it is. But in this case they got the fee encashed and then sent us the cheque in canadian $.
I have one more query, what i have sent as part of my application was:

all the forms + photographs + self addressed label + passport photocopy.
I did not send any supporting documents for my noc code 213 but explained in brief the main duties.

let me know if i missed something.

No, you haven't missed anything, as long as you wrote a sufficient breif explaining your main duties, nothing was wrong.

In all cases as i told you(rejection, approval, returing back the entire package) they must send you a letter explaining the situation exactly, it is not optional, it is mandatory according to the immigration department rules.
that is why am telling you that something went wrong in your case and you should contact them to get the missing letter to understand what was the reason of their refusal.

By the way photos are not required for the initial application to sydney, but it is unrelated to the whole thing that we are talking about in this topic(no effect negative or positive).

Some silly questions from me,,,

Is the 'cheque' sent back to you the same one you had sent?

Why did you send cheque ? Its shuould be a "certified cheque, bank draft or money order". Did you send one of this? Can you check if you have the right name on the cheque ->“Receiver General for Canada.”

If its the same one sent by you and has been sent back to you,,,,, you dont need to deposit the draft or money order... but you need to cancel it (they will charge for it)...
MAKE SURE ITS ORIGINAL AND CHECK THE RETURN ADDRESS ON THE MAIL YOU GOT!!!

ALSO if possible scan the copy of the document you got and post it on picasa or webshot and post the link... MASK out all the sensitive information like name etc
This will make it easier for others to comment

I will answer this question on behalf of him because he has already answered it on his post (number 20).

It cannot be!!
Check if its a cheque or a "Reciept". Some canadian banks issue a reciept which says on the back/front with watermark as "THIS IS NOT CHEQUE".

This case is weird..

Here is the sheet that I was talking about. have a look

Hi Guys,

Finally some more info regarding the case, i called some canadian immigration office and they told me my client ID. Using that i could check my application status on CIC website.
It seems they have sent me some letter on 2nd July which i have not received. I directly received this cheque. I am writing to the main office in Syndney to send me the letter or Soft copy again to erase all the doubts.
and yes will deposit the cheque without further delay.

Also, can anyone answer this, i applied under NOC 0213. I have a total work-x of 5 years, out of which i have been a part of managerial stream, acting manager, for the last 2.5 years, (though i am not a manager). My duties include, leading team and all of a lead's activities like planning, work delegation, issue resolution, making deliveries. and also things like client interaction, requirement analysis etc.

Do u guys think i can qualify under noc 0213? please suggest if i should try again.

Looks like a rejection to me.. but you never know..

0213 is a very tricky NOC code.. Lot of people applying under this wen they clearly dont qualify..
I checked some canadian freinds.. and the IT manager's typically have 15 years or more experience.. some time even if you have 10 + is ok i guess..
But most important.. you need to be a manager at least 1 to 5 years with some team reporting to you and $$$ managment under you..
