Checklist question

I am sponsoring my wife and her child to come here from the US. We're almost done the paperwork. I just had one question about my checklist.

I have the first section (Sponsor) done. My question is with the next section -- "Sponsored person and family members". It asks for originals of several documents. Those documents are included in her half of the paperwork. On my checklist, for example, it asks for "Original of Application for Permanent Residence (IMM 0008 Generic). Completed by the sponsored person." On her checklist, it required her to completed 3 copies of that form.

Should she have made originals of all the "completed by sponsored person" documents for the Sponsor checklist to be included specifically with my Sponsor documents (separate from her Immigration documents)? Or am I to check them off my checklist based on them being included in her Immigration paperwork?

Probably a simple answer to a poorly worded question. I'm just feeling overwhelmed with a lot of stuff these days.

If I am understanding your question correctly, she has her own checklist of documents that she fills out and sends back to you...her sponsor. As the sponsor, you put the whole package together so the first section is for your forms, the second section is for her forms followed by the other things you need together. So no you don't need extra copies, you merge her paperwork with your paperwork to make the complete package by following your check list. I hope that makes sense.

I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed. I found some of the questions confusing. Some you could read different ways. I would read something, think I understood it and come back to it the next day and interpret it a totally different way. I am not a stupid person but I did struggle at times and I really feel for people who do not have English as their first language!

Good luck with your application!

The region checklist has priority, so make sure you send enough (3 as it sounds in your case) to cover the region requirements. We checked off the list for Canada and the list for the region, based on making sure we included enough to satisfy each list. So on our sponsor check list for the CIC we checked off that we had submitted the 0008 Generic (knowing that we had enough copies for both Canada and my specific region to meet all requirements.)

It would be best to just include a photo copy of the document in the other section, this is what I did. That way they have a copy in each section even though the original is already included in the other documents

Thanks, everyone.

Jen, you're right about misunderstanding some of the wording after you think you got it. I've questioned myself a few times during this process.
