Checklist Question (A Checkmark or an "R"?)

I have printed out the checklist for spousal sponsorship. It says "As you work through the steps, check "R" for each applicable item". Is my computer printing this out wrong? Should it really be a checkmark? Or do I really write the letter "R" beside everything?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haha, it must have printed a symbol incorrectly. You should be checking each box.
