Question 2. Who puts there name to register to check the online status of the application would it be my wife or my self?

I don't know for sure, but I would assume it would be the sponsor. It probably makes no difference, though.

Good luck with your application!!

We didn't get a notification of receipt of our file from CIC Mississauga until we got approved for sponsorship. At this point they emailed us and said my spouse had been approved as a sponsor and gave us all the information (file number, Unique Client ID, etc) to check the status online using ecas.

However, if you already have this information, you can check online now. To check the sponsorship application, log in using the Unique Client ID number and fill in the sponsor's name, date of birth, place of birth. To check the applicant's status for PR application, log in using the file number and the applicants name, date of birth and country of birth. As far as I know, you don't need to register to be able to check, you just plug in the information!
