Checking Application Status online

Hi

My husband (=sponsor) and I sent in my PR application in April. On May 25 (i.e. 34 days after we mailed the application), we got an email from CIC confirming they received the application. Every week since then, I've been trying to check the application status online on the CIC website, but I always just get the message "We were not able to identify you using the information you provided...". I put in my husband's name and date and place of birth and tried both the UCI and File Number mentioned in the mail from CIC as Identification Type. But I always get the same message.

Am I doing something wrong or does it really take that long for them to update the information? I thought I read somewhere the sponsor assessment should only take between 36 and 40 days and then the application gets forwarded to the next step? It's now been 68 days since the application package arrived in Mississauga.

Did you try your info? Don't put too much stock into ECAS it can take time to update. The sponsor approval is an estimate, it might take longer. You can try the call center, see if they have any info.

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, I did try my own info as well but got the same error message. I guess I'll wait another week or so and then give the call centre a try.

Try the FILE NUMBER with the applicants information, I guarantee it will work.

I tried selecting "Application Number / Case Number" and using it with the "Application No.:" they gave us in the email. The number starts with an F, so I tried it both - with the F and without - while first using my husband's info and then mine. None of the combinations worked.

I just got an automated email from CIC - this time addressing me instead of my husband/sponsor - again confirming that they received the application in April. NOW it finally works with my info and the file number. Now I get "Permanent Residence Application Status: Application Received". Does that mean that my husband was approved as sponsor and they now moved on to my assessment or do they have not even started yet?

It's clear on their instructions on the email - "You will received further correspondence once your application is under review"
Their just about to start to process the application. All you have to do is wait and check your email regularly.

Not clear enough for me I guess. ;D We got the first confirmation email, which was addressed to my husband, a month ago. Today we got a second confirmation email saying basically the same thing but addressed to me. So I got my hopes up that maybe that meant that his sponsorship application got approved and they now moved on to my PR application. I guess not...

Same thing what happened to me. First AOR sent to the sponsor after few weeks AOR sent to the principal applicant. Both are the same, Just wait and see.

Hi Teekatze

Where were you, and your application is processed by Visa Office ?

AOR1 your husband will receive when your application is received by CPC Mississauga

AOR2 you will receive when your application is transferred to the Visa Office handling your case in your area.

And ..

Application No & UCI your husband will be different.
