Cheap daily rate hotel in Calgary for family of four

I am asking some very basic question. When someone lands in Calgary for the first time and has no friends, obviously he has to look for some accommodation for rentals. Till such time, what are the short rental options ? Are there some cheap accommodation options available on daily basis ? Please advise the associated costs.

We were in the same situation when we landed in Calgary.

What we did is looking at Craigslist. We found a nice lady in Calgary who was renting part of her property on a weekly basis. I remember we paid $300 for one week, way cheaper than a hotel. Maybe she is still doing that, I don't know.

While staying there, we looked through newspapers (didn't help) and we finally found a place through professionnally managed rental properties (in our case it was Boardwalk) ... but I must admit since we didn't have jobs they ask 3 MONTHS rent in advance which we gave right away since we were so happy to have found a place.

That was our experience. Look thorugh the internet before you land so you can get familiar with the city before landing.

we are also looking for temporary location to land in Calgary and then eventually will look for an apartment to rent for 1 year.
