Umm I was thinking of booking a connecting flight with a bit longer stay in London & have to chance to visit my friend & nearby places, is that possible?

I was going through UK Border agency website & under 24 hours 'Transit without visa' concession I found
ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/transitthroughtheuk/visa-to-transit-landside/
If you are a visa national or recognised as stateless, you may be able to transit the UK landside without a visa. To qualify for this exemption:
* you must arrive and depart by air;
* your onward flight must be confirmed, and must depart within 24 hours; and
* you have proper documentation for your destination, including a visa if necessary
So, does that mean we do not require a landside transit visa if we will leave within 24hours?

the best would be to call up the UK EMBASSY they will tell you the best, also for how much did you get your ticket from ? and from where?

You are right, I've dropped an email both to UK embassy Chd. & VFS North. Will wait for their response.

Regarding ticket, I haven't booked it yet, as I'm still waiting for my visa :p I'll contact both the travel agents mentioned earlier in this thread (by Harpreet & Jitender, thanks guys)

Just trying to collect as much info as I can beforehand, so that I don't make any mistake in a hurry later on.

Hi,

I am sure takecare travels must have told you to hold the ticket. You can hold the ticket for now and then confirm it later, they will not charge anything for that, but ask them how much time you have to confirm after holding the ticket.

all the best :)

Hi Sandeep,

The cancellation charges depend on many factors, such as:

Airline: Often, different airlines have different cancellation charges and policies.
Sector: Some sectors have higher cancellation charges than others.
Time of cancellation: Usually, the closer it is to the departure date, the higher the cancellation charges.

Hi All New Comers!

I cam as Student in 2009 and now living in Toronto, I would be happy to help my juniors with my experience in this country.

Regarding Tickets, Delhi and Amritsar are the best place and cheapest, you may try it with http://www.globewintravels.com/ they offer best and cheapest, you can add my reference "Jitender Chaudhary"
Second thing you may need is Foreign Exchange, the best rate could be obtained from Thomas cook and I can provide reference for CAD in cash amount too.

Third thing you need is "Place to live - near your college" - Let me know your college and I can tell you the place and market rates too

Items to bring with you ; - "DONT BRING LOT OF CLOTHES" becoz u will be shopping here too and mostly prices are same, you can bring only 3-4 jeans with 5-10 cheap t-shirts9Rs300-500), formal 3-4 (Rs500-1500)shirts for interviews and 2-3 formal trouser for office/college (500-1500). You may wish to bring heavy jacket if it is under 4-5k. You can easily buy branded t-shirts and other clothes from $10-$50 and jackets from $70-200. so dont waste money in India as most of students land and buy stuff again.

Bring as much kitchen stuff as you can, not food but utensils. mostly students get 75kg limit to travel.

I hope what I have shared is of use to you.

Congrats for your visa's
A great piece of Info. R u punjabi? +1 for you jitu bro
