It hasn't even sunk in yet for me emotionally, but I got the call from Gerry's FedEx at 11:15 am today and picked up my visa at around noon. It's a four-year, multiple entry visa, valid from August 2011 to August 2015 (I had requested a four-year visa).
Timeline:
Submitted to CHC ISB via Gerry's FedEx: June 20, 2011
CHC received application: June 21, 2011
Received medical call: July 28, 2011
Had medical tests with Dr. Nilofer at Ali Medical Centre in Islamabad: July 30, 2011
Medical test results sent to New Delhi from Ali Medical Centre in Islamabad: August 5, 2011
E-mail from CHC telling me my case had been finalized: August 16, 2011
Call from Gerry's FedEx to pick up passport: August 18, 2011
Visa Dates:
August 12, 2011 - August 12, 2015
Date of Expiry on Letter of Admission:
September 12, 2011
Time of processing:
This was a fast decision.
Number of weeks: 8
Number of days: 58
I will answer any questions anybody has to ask about my case/experience, but I'll say for now that I was a PhD student and my case was an extremely strong one -- I would have been shocked if it had been refused. I'll create a separate thread in a bit after I've allowed this to sink in, and describe my experience with the CHC in great detail with some personal commentary -- it's been a real learning experience.
