I am an international student. I am charged with theft under $5000, forshoplifting something for $ 17. My lawyer is very confident that my charges will be withdrawn and I will get diversion. I have to apply for pgwp in January. Will these withdrawn charges affect my pgwp? Is there any chance I can get my post graduate work permit?

I don't know why did I do this, it was an impulsive reaction. I'm extremely remorseful for this

This could a problem, when you apply for pgwp just be honest and dont lie on your application about being arrested.
you might still get the pgwp, dont steal ever again.

Did they formally arrest you ? I mean if you were caught inside the premises of shop you cannot be charged.

Hi can you help me can I get your lawyer number please , I'm in trouble too I'm looking for affordable lawyer please thank you

Hi Bhee,

you can consult Arif Hussain( Scarborough).. that's okay it was a mistake. Make sure to get the charges withdrawn.. and make sure to mention on your documents what happened. FYI - Govt knows everything and they just require honesty from you. Don't worry ..you have learnt the lesson .. have a great successful life!

Yes the was was withdrawn on first court date, i had to make a small donation to some ngo and it was withdrawn
