Anyone knows of any groups where Cantonese new immigrants can make new friends? Fellow Cantonese speaking new immigrants or locals who speak Cantonese. A little home sick here.

I don't know any groups but I don't feel home sick when I go to places like bakeries, restaurants in Chinese malls in such as Vancouver Chinatown, Crystal mall burnaby and Richmond.

Might want to tell us which city you're in.

I think it's more about making new friends more than anything else. I've been going to the places you mentioned, helped a bit.

How did you go about meeting new friends when you got here?

I like in person, so I go regularly to places where the same people tend to hang out. The gym. Salsa clubs.

I also found meetup.com a very useful tool for finding people with similar interests than me. Loads of groups ranging from everything from artists to hikers to food junkies to pretty much whatever you can think of.

Good luck
