CHANGING WORK HISTORY IN THE APPLICATION FOLLOWING ITA

Hi everyone,

I was a student at a university in Canada between 2009-2013.

I worked as a research assistant at my school during the school years from 2011-2015. I signed individual contracts between September-April of each school year.

In my express entry profile, I stated that I worked as a research assistant between September 2011 and April 2015, as opposed to specifying each individual school year.

Now that I am applying, I decided to add the individual school years in different rows, each year from September to April. Also, even though I signed a contract in the 2014-2015 school year, I did not work any hours, therefore I did not add this in my final application.

During each school year, I worked around 10 hours/week, therefore this change doesn't affect my score.

Do you think this will cause any problems in my application?

This should be included in the personal history section. I worked as a TA for 3 semesters and did two 4 month co-ops. No points are awarded for any work done while studying so I have just included it in the personal history section. I would recommend that you do not split the study period. It is OK if there is an overlap of study and work in the personal history.

I already included this position in my work history in my express entry profile from September 2011 to April 2015. Are you suggesting that I do not include it in my work history, but only in my personal history in the final application?

Also, I graduated in 2013 June and worked for another school year as a research assistant following my graduation, from September 2013 to April 2014. Although my work hours were quite low so I am not being granted any points for this position.

If you aren't being granted any points for it then there is not point keeping it in the work history. Include it in your personal history. If you keep it in your work history you'll be asked to upload employment records. Explain it in the LOE.

I have one more question regarding this topic...

In my EE profile I included the part time work experience as a research assistant between October 2011 - April 2015, during last 2 years of university and 2 years following graduation (I graduated in 2013).

After I submitted my profile I realized that I signed individual contracts for each school year, so I was not technically employed during the summer months. Therefore in the personal history section of my post ITA application I entered this job under 4 separate entries representing each school year, from October to April.

In summary, in EE profile it shows October 2011 - April 2015.

In personal history of application post ITA, it shows:

October 2011-April 2012
September 2012-April 2013
September 2013-April 2014
September 2014-April 2015

Do you think I will run into any problems for this discrepancy? Will I be penalized for misinterpretation?
