Hi missjian,
from what I've read around here, sponsorship is a very time-consuming process and could take up to 2 years. If you both don't mind waiting that much then it's fine. But if you are planning to get married very very soon then maybe you should consider informing the VO and submitting your spouse documents needed. Yes, it will delay your process a few months but then you will both be able to land at the same time instead of being apart for so long.

hi thalia!thanks forbur quick reply..actually i already informed my representative about my case but according to them i cannot informed VO advance notice what we're planing to do that is changing my status since the marriage hasnt taken place yet..(actually it will happen in 2 months time) if for example the decision has already been made by CAndian embassy before i get married..,is it possible to update my status so that they'll start processing my husband's papers before i land to canada?

Your representative is correct. You can't inform your VO for something that hasn't happened yet. Even if you get your visa one day before the wedding for them it's like it didn't happen.
The way I see it you have 2 options.
First is to have a civil wedding NOW before you get a "decision made" (e.g. this week) prepare all the documents that you will need for your husband, inform your VO asap and then wait for them to request them. You will need to give them updated forms, PCC for him, his degrees -if any- with transcripts, he would have to go under medical etc. That will hold both of you back for a few months but then you will be able to leave for Canada together.
The other is to proceed as you are, hoping that you won't be "decision made" in the next 2 months, but it's very risky. If the decision is made before the wedding then you will need to bring him to Canada only through sponsorship and that process takes much much longer. Meaning you will spend lots of time apart. You can always get your visa stamped, land to Canada, take your PR and go back home for some time, not to be apart. But no for more than 2 years in a 5years time, if you want a Canadian passport (which I assume you want) and if you want to sponsorship him of course you need to be working in Canada at a steady job. And this option will cost also a lot, in tickets, a place to stay in Canada alone, finding a good job sooner than waiting more years, starting establishing a new life etc.
You can decide what you think it's better for you, your new family and your future together as a couple.
Good luck with your steps ahead and congratulations in advance for your wedding :)

hi thalia thanks for the reply..i came across with the same situation as i am in this forum where they get married after the visa is issued then they informed the vo and then they requested the docs for the spouse and after 5months they were issued new visas for both of them after the spouse papers were screened..is it possible?coz iv also read that once uv change ur status ur visa is already invalid..that means they need to reprocess again as per new applicant coz o the addition in the family member. is it also true that the process will only end after landing?so that means since im not landing yet i can still update my status and ill hav chance of coming to canada wid my spouse? thaanks so much

From what I know, once your status becomes "decision made" then you can't add him as your spouse. You will have to find other ways to bring him to Canada, regardless if you landed or not. I think it will be risky for you to wait these 2 months. It will cost you many more months apart from your husband if they request your passport this month.
If any senior knows if there is any other option please comment.
