Hello Everyone,

I just recently married and i want to update my new name in my PR card then apply for inland application.
But the problem is the processing time to change name in my PR card is too long. Can i use my PR card through inland
sponsorship without changing my new name? the only thing that i can change right away is my Drivers license, SIN card and heath card.
My passport amendment is taking some time too. I want to file our inland application asap. My partner's TRV will expire at the end of may, we only got 4 1/2 months. On the application form i already used my new name.

Pleas advice, thank you and god bless.

I married and never did change my name on any documents . Still haven't after two years of being married. Canada does not require you to change your name ,just your status with CRA . So go ahead an apply.

I was just wondering the exact same thing! I'm getting married soon and want to send my (outland) application ASAP and didn't want to get stuck in a bureaucratic nightmare of having to change my name on all my ID before I could send in the spousal sponsorship application. So I should just do the whole thing in my maiden name and update after it's done?

Yes, you can. However the only document you need to change is your passport, (renew it with a name change). My wife renewed her passport early to do so as we thought it would be better for our application.

I (james' wife) intentionally left my name as it was after marriage so I wouldn't confuse the process with a new name. I want to take my husband's surname, but I'm waiting until my PR is finalized and I'm all set here before I do this.

same problem i got :(
please, bear with my grammar here.

Can somebody please help/give some suggestion on my situation I am now. I got married a year ago in Canada to a Canadian (which is my husband now ;) and proceed to Outland Sponsorship Application but on our application I still used my maiden name. Now, passport soon to expired and planning to renew it very soon...

My question is, should I still use my maiden name OR use my husband maiden name?.. but my worried is if I use my husband maiden name, would it affect to our application?

I really appreciated your comments/suggestions here. thank you.

why don't you just use your name and finish the process? You can change it after you land in Canada. Remember you are not obliged to change your name after marriage. Changing now while in the process could delay the process.
