I have been told I could use my sponsor's address as mine? How do I notify this to CIC? Do I just have my sponsor write to the email address he got when he got the SA? I am going to be moving around a bit and it makes more sense that I use my husband's address.

BTW, is there any reason that they will ever need to write a snail mail to me?

Thank you very much!

you may be able to do it on ECAS, though because you're changing from an out of canada address, that may not be possible. otherwise, you would send a case specific inquiry to your visa office, either by mail, email fax or all three. either go to the CIC website and search for "Case specific inquiry" or use the instructions provided in the sponsor approval letter to contact your visa office.

Oh, I see. We probably should have put my husband's address in the application for me as well as for himself, but we didn't. Mine shows a US address. I will be moving shortly, but I will have a US address (just a different one and I won't be checking often since I will be visiting my husband for a few months), so I will report the change of address to CIC when the time comes.

Can someone tell me when CIC communicates using snail mail?

Thank you very much!

your COPR (approval letter) will be mailed to the address listed in your application, so you will want to change your address ASAP to avoid issues getting your approval.

Just a little confused about this.
My husbands current address is listed on his application but for his mailing address he used mine in Canada. Will his COPR be sent to me or him? He lives in the Dominican and their mailing system is not the best. It's quite unreliable.

generally, the copr is mailed to the mailing address the applicant put in their application. so if he put your address as his MAILING address, presumably any communication about his approval will be sent there.

I am so sorry to bug you about this, but I want to make sure I understand what you mean... My address in California and my husband's address in Canada are listed in my application. And you are saying the COPR (approval letter) will be mailed to me in the US (The US address is listed for me - the sponsored spouse)?

What about for the PR card?

the address the sponsor wrote in his application is irrelevant. his application is completed. the next step is processing your application (the sponsored person). They will mail the approval letter to whatever address YOU (the sponsored person aka princpal applicant) put in YOUR Application as your mailing address. What address did you give CIC in your application as your MAILING address? that is where it will be mailed unless you change it with CIC.

What do you mean by "my application"? Are you talking about IMM-0008 that I filled out? That has my address in the US listed.

application = forms a person fills out to be considered for permanent residency or to be a sponsor.

the sponsor has an application, with various forms to fill out.

the principal applicant also has an application with forms to fill out. among those forms, there is a form that specifically asks for the princpal applicant's mailing and residential addresses as well as email and phone number. i don't recall what form it is specifially. though yes, i'd presume it is the form 0008 since that is the main application form for principal applicants.

what ever address you wrote in your application where it specifically asked for your mailing address THAT is the address your approval paper will be sent to, unless you change your address with CIC. if you move and don't notify cic of a new mailing address, how are they suppose to know you moved? i don't know how else to say it or be more clear.
