I'm a male. I'd like to change my last name (as in, make it my middle name, and have my traditional family name as my new last name).

Let me explain: My grandfather dropped our family name, so my current last name is actually my father's first name (I'm Indian, so this is quite common). I'd like to have my father's first name as my middle name instead. And have my family name as my actual last name. Hope this makes sense.

I live in Ontario, and have already come across this link (https://www.ontario.ca/page/change-name-adults). It looks quite straightforward, but I have a few questions:

1. I've been a PR for almost 2 years now. Should I change my name before or after I apply for Canadian citizenship?
2. Which process should I start first? Name change process in Ontario, or should I apply for name change at the Indian embassy (http://www.blsindia-canada.com/name_chan.php)?
3. What happens after I successfully change my name? Will it be easy to update all bank records, driver's license, tourist visas etc?

The main reason I want to change my last name is for my future kid. I'd like my kid's last name to be my family name. Will it be possible for my kid to have a different last name as mine, if I am not able to change my own last name in time? I'd just like my first name to be the kid's middle name.
