Hello I’m an international prospective undergrad student who applied to a university in BC (for Fall 2021) but due to severe residence issues there I just had to defer before even starting it. Now I plan to apply to another university in Ontario (For Fall 2022) so I will be starting university a whole year later, but not sure if it will be called a “gap year” since I just got my A level results this august. My concern is related to the visa as I have already gotten it for 5 years (note that its the study&coop visa as I applied to engineering before) so will I need to get a new study visa for the new DLI in ontario? Given that the program I Apply to has optional co-op not mandatory.
This is a really stressful situation right now as it wasn’t a fault from my side at all so a reply would be appreciated.
Thanks

Yes you need to apply for the new work permit. On other note, if you are not in Canada, you can only travel with your the LOA/Current DLI. However if your studies have started, Border Agent will also proof of enrolment to admit you to Canada. If you are in Canada and you will not attend class until next year Fall, you are not eligible to work, and that will be considered a gap if you don't take any initiative to delist from the DLI and change your status to visitor.. Its complicated, but all the best

Are you already in Canada? If so, you have to return home and inform IRCC about your decision not to attend school this year. Your SP will likely be cancelled.

Either way, you will need to are-apply for your SP to attend another DLI.

After I received a BVL email, I received a second email which has this content

" This refers to your application for a Canadian temporary resident visa. In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:  Passport/Travel Document: The passport submitted with this application is to expire in November 2021. Please provide the bio-data page of your updated passport details.  This must be received at this office by: 2021/10/03"

I have updated and sent the info needed.

Do you think this email is geared towards ppr?
