Hi Everyone

I have got the study permit approved recently and visa is also placed on the passport. However, I wanted to change the DLL from University of Victoria to Dalhousie University. I am a Ph.D. student. I am outside Canada. Therefore, I did the steps as suggested on https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/change-schools/account.html

However, my program, duration, scholarship remain the same. After I submitted the forum, it says I have successfully notified IRCC.

I am a bit confused since I didn't receive any email about whether or not I have been successfully transferred to a different university. My question is would I be getting any reply? how long does it take to change the institute or is it already changed? do I need to apply for a new study permit?

Please any help would be appreciated.

You have to re apply entire application. The link you mentioned above is from 2018 and that method is no longer work as per my knowledge. I am giving you ne updated link please go through and IRCC is written clearly that you have to re apply application.

Thank you for your response. I have asked the Canadian consulate in Shanghai. They gave me the most latest link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=487&t=15

and they said this: (So what should I do?)

Dear client,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Please note that Dalhousie University has been authorized as the designated learning institution under your study permit. Should you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

yes I have checked, but the Canadian embassy in Shanghai which has given me the visa seems to think that I don't have to apply for a new one.

should I ignore them and re-apply?
I think that this method works if you already In Canada and studying actively. To be Safe, Call IRCC directly from your country and confirm it, Then, Re apply your study permit. I have seen on IRCC website that if you don't tell them that you have changed your DLI then they wont allow you to board on flight or might refuse your entry in Canada port. So verify things carefully.

Though I have informed the IRCC using the outdated method https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/change-schools/account.html

how can I contact IRCC from China to verify what Canadian Consulate in Shanghai have been telling me?

Just give them call 18882422100, Waiting time can be very long as IRCC is so busy.
Thank you for your info. I cannot from china on this number, therefore, I think I can only use web form.

I have just two questions.

how do I know if my current visa is invalid? Since I have already informed IRCC about the change of DLI using GCKey. if I still land in Canada, and show my initial DLI LOA used to apply for the SP, will it be ok?

will there be any consequences? would you recommend that I revert back from new DLI to old DIL used to apply SP using theGCKey?

Since there is not much time left in the starting of winter semester.

ok, Did you get new LOA? Where is your current admission is active University of Victoria or Dalhousie University ?
I have LOA from both the universities. My status is active in both of them. I initially applied for SP using the LOA of University of Victoria.
I want to go to Dalhousie so I submitted the transfer request using the GCKey and submitted the LOA using the IRCC web form in Shanghai.

will it be ok if I retreat my request by submitting the transfer again on GCKey and inform using the webform?
