Hi guys! I have reached Canada and actively pursuing 1 year (3 semesters continous) (tution fully paid) accounting Graduate Certificate program at Sheridan College. The course is extensive and I seem to be unable to cope up with the study material. Can I change my course to 2 year (16 months) Accounting diploma in the same DLI. I have already done my Bachelors from India. I see a lot of guys changing courses from 1 year to 2 years for gaining a work permit of upto 3 years. Do I need to notify CIC or IRCC immediately if I am changing just my course and not my DLI. For getting an extension, how early should I apply before the expiry of the study permit? Current course started in September 2021 and finishes in August 2022. My visa stamp and study permit is valid upto December 2022.
Senior Members please guide.
I will also contact the college advisement team and international centre.
Maybe if I am able to complete some of the courses successfully of this program this semester I will be able to get credits for the same.
My main issue is regarding going down an education level and the effect on study permit extension.
My main goal is immigrating successfully to Canada and I can complete the same course in future with more available time that I can dedicate for the education after becoming a permanent resident.
