I am reading the new program requirements and caps on foreign workers here. Quite honestly, I think the smaller employer is screwed with a Capital S!! Previously, if you have less than 10 employees nationwide under the same business number, you are exempt from the cap. They have taken that exemption away. in other words, if you are a small business owner who has 3-4 employees, you just can't qualify to bring in TFWs... There are remote regions like Okanagon Thompson and Yellowknife areas where the employers are facing extreme labour shortage. There is no way that smaller employers now can stay in business given the new regulations...

Seniors.. Any comments???

Yes - it looks like they have removed that exemption.

My suggestions are as follows: (1) Lobby your MP to change this; (2) There are a large number of Ukrainians coming to Canada on open work permits right now and this is a possible labour pool for you. They have set up a specific Ukraine section in Job Bank. Post your openings there. Also, there are several facebook groups where people are posting job opportunities for those coming to Canada on these work permits.

I have been reading about this and I have an LMIA application ready to be submitted. I don't know what to do. Is this an error or did they intentionally screw the smaller businesses? The employer has been advertising since January and has not found a person who qualifies for the job..
Who knows more on this subject? SOS
